ARTIST OF H.M.S. RENOWN
PICTURE ACCEPTED BY ACADEMY. (Special to the “Star.”) LONDON, April 30. Mr I rank Theodore, a second writer in the Ro.vai Navy, has had a watercolour drawing accepted by the Royal Academy. Mr Theodore was on the Renown during tho Prince of Wales’s tour of Australia and New Zealand, and the drawing of Oriental Bay, Wellington Harbour, New Zealand, which is to bo exhibited, was coloured aboard the This is believed to bo the first occasion upon which a picture by a. lowerdeck rating has been accepted by Hig Academy. As Mr Theodore himself comments, “ Conditions in which onehas to work- in a battle cruiser are as a rule most inconvenient, and certainly do not enable an artist to give of his best.”
