MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender and a statutory first offender were each fined ss, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. BACK TO COUNTRY. Mary Agnes Vaughan, aged fortynine, who has seventy-two convictions against her, pleaded guilty to her second offence for drunkenness within six months. She was also charged with breach of a prohibition order. The accused said she was employed in the country, and’ had come into town to do some shopping. She had money and was prepared to go back to her job. The woman was convicted and sentenced was postponed until to-morrow so that she may have an opportunity of getting back to the country. FOR SPITE. William Robert Walter Mooney, aged twenty-five, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a bangle valued at £9 15s, the property of Mrs Althes Walsh. The accused in a statement said that he had stolen the bangle for spite. Mooney was remanded to appear for sentence on Wednesday. REMANDED. Charles M’Donald, an old man, was charged with having obtained £lO from Edward J. Costello by means of a valueless cheque. He was remanded to appear on Wednesday. BY-LAW CASES. For motoring at night without a rear light, James Garland was fined For having driven heavy traffic along Wainoni Road, Cecil Jardiu was fined -10 s. For a similar offence Hector Jardin was ordered to pay costs. CIVIL CASE. (Before'Mr 11. V. Widdowson, S.M.) Tn the adjourned case in which the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association of Canterbury, Ltd. (Mr Tracy), claimed £69 16s lOd from George M’Donald (Mr Ellingworth) for goods supplied, judgment was given for the plaintiff for the full amount, less £ls 11s 9d paid into Court.
