The House of Commons sat until 6.23 this morning, when it. concluded the committee stage . of the Finance Bill, which was reported to the House. An amendment, moved by Miss E. Wilkinson (Labour), to exclude artificial silk from the tax was rejected by 180 votes to 82. An amendment by Mr G. M. Gillett (Labour) to reduce the duty on articles made wholly of silk or artificial silk from 33i to 10 per cent was rejected by 170 votes to 80.
