AMUSING FEX DALTON STORY. All men, they say, are liars. An amusing story from Fcndalton way .-.tamps one man, a married one, as a liar. This gentlemans wife is in the habit of carrying the family purse and, moreover, keeping tight grip on it, too. lie wanted badly to go to the races, but knew it was hopeless to secure the consent of his better half. Then suddenly came one of thtfse hashes of inspiration, which they say are the expeiience only of genius, lie had read that Joe Bierman, the tailor, made ten-guinea suits for five guineas, that he gave a guarantee that his fiveguinea suits were just :he same, except in price, as the ten-guinea'suits of other tailors. Now our Fendalton friend was requiring his annual suit, which, he usually paid ten guineas for. He went, therefoic, to Joe Bierman’s at No. S. ’ athedral Square, between Bank of N.Z. and Dalgety’s, and had made to 3.is measure for five guineas a suit which simply delighted his wife when she saw it. For material, fit, style, workmanship and finish it was unsurpassed. Was it any wonder, therefore-, that she easily believed our friend's tale that the clothes cost ten guineas, and the result was for him a nice little day at the races. 1710
