Speaking at the Advertising Club last evening, Mr J. A. Jewell stated that large sums were paid leading newspapers in Britain' and America for advertising space “As an instance,” lie said, “ the London ‘ Daily Mail’ charges £SOO for a single page, while the cost for a page in the ‘ Saturday Evening Post’ is £1000.” Tn this issue the Railway Department advertises train arrangements for the. Banks Peninsula Racing Club’s meeting, which will be held at Riccarton on Saturday instead of at Motukarara. The morning train from Little River will be delayed, and a convenient service has been arranged between Christchurch and the racecourse.
