CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M.) DRUNKEN NESS. Charles Dowzer (thirty-nine), was charged with drunkenness. He had been convicted of drunkenness twice previously within the last six months. Dowzer was fined £t >, in default ten days’ imprisonment. A first offender was fined 10s or twenty-four hours. A statutory first offender (a woman) was fined 10s or twenty-four hours. Charlotte Bruyere, widow (Mr Godfrey) claimed from Charles* Aldous, rope maker (Mr Oliver) the sum of £5 15s 6d for goods supplied and rent. The defendant counter-claimed for £2S 12s 4d, being rent of one room, rented to defendant, but not given his use, and for work done in painting the cottage. Judgment was given Cor plaintiff on both the claim and counter claim.
