LABOUR VOTES.

Sir. —I notice that Mr Chapman, of Wellington, claims that his vote i'or the Mayoralty constituted the record highest vote for a Labour candidate ever polled in New Zealand. This is not so. The highest vote was polled by Mr I>. G. Sullivan on Wednesday, 12.730. and Mrs M’Combs came a good second with 12,100 for the Hospital . Board and 11,789 for the City Council. Mr Armstrong's vote of 11.73 G was nearly equal to that of Mr Chapman, the four highest records being: • D. G. Sullivan . . 12.730 E. R. M’Combs . 12.100 W. Chapman ... 11.797 IT. T. Armstrong . 11.736 If Mrs M’Combs were willing to allow herself to be nominated for Parliament, it looks as though she might easily be the first woman to be elected to the New Zealand Parliament.—l am. etc., RETURNED SOLDIER. Office Road, St Albans.
