RICCARTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

On Thursday evening of last week a most enjoyable congregational social was held at the Church Hall, Puriri Street, the objects being to welcome new members and to hear the results of the first vear of effort for the new church building fund. The treasurer, Mr G. W. Watson, presented a statement showing an amount of £250 in the Savings Bank and a total (including promises) of nearly £SOO. Such a result was held to he very gratifying, and the prime movers of the scheme, Mr John Boag and Rev G. Lindsay, must feel that their faith and foresight have been rewarded. In addition to the raising of this new fund the existing debt on the property is being reduced at the rate of approximately £l5O per year. Opportunity was taken to indicate to the minister. Rev Brian Kilrov, iNf.A., the goodwill and appreciation in which he was held. Mr G. Ferguson. the session clerk, presented him on behalf of the congregation with a new cassock. Musical and clooutionarv items were I given by the Misses Robinson, Mesdnraes "Wilson and Edginton, and Messrs -T. F. Jones. M’Crostie and Bright. A bountiful supper was provided by the ladies.
