INFANT BURNED TO DEATH IN PARENTS’ ABSENCE.

Pee Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, April 30. A pathetic tragedy occurred near Patea to-day, when tiie infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Mead of Lower Bail Road, was burned to death when their house was destroj-ed by fire. The mother and father were away at the milking shed at the time, leaving a boy in charge. When the boy discovered the fire he'could not reach the baby owing to smoke.
