FAREWELL TO MATRON E. GBROOKE. .V pleasing function took place at the Rannerdale Home yesterday afternoon, where Alatron E. G. Brooke, who has been in charge of the home during the past four years, was iare- ! welled on the eve of her approaching I Mr A. C. Maxwell, chairman of the j Rannerdale Committee, in referring to I Alatron Brooke, who was severing her { connection with the home, said that I Aliss Brooke came to the home four years ago, and had proved a very effieij ent matron. Her record during her i term had enhanced the reputation with which she had come, and she had shown great tact and skill in management, gaining the confidence and goodwill of the patients. When the Patriotic Fund founded the home for returned soldiers, it stressed the word home, and he was pleased to record that Matron Brooke had made it a home in every respect. She was a true friend to all those in the home, and her work had been thoroughly appreciated by the Rannerdale Committee, on behalf of which he presented to Matron Brooke ;t handsome entree dish, which Dr Hand Newton accepted, and in a happv speech, rturned thanks on behalf of Alatron Brooke. Air Maxwell read apologies for absence from Colonel and Mrs Fenwick, Air H. Holland and Mr Cyrus Williams. Air -J A. Flesher, chairman of the Red Cross Executive of Christchurch, said this executive had been associated with the Rannerdale Home for four years, during which time the relations had been most cordial and harmonious.
