Stokes, of Baker Street, New Brighton, died yesterday in the Christchurch Hospital, at the age of seventy-eight. He ca*ie to New Zealand in the Randolph in 1&50. and had lived in Canterbury ever since his arrival. In 1882 he went to Timaru, but returned to Christchurch about ten years ago. taking up his residence at New Brighton. Mr Stokes is survived by two sons, Messrs R. A. Stokes and C. H. Stokes, both of New Brighton, and three daughters, Airs J. Goodman, Mrs G. Water re us and Mrs AY. Wells, aj] of Timaru.
