BIG CONTRACTS.
£IOO,OOO TO BE EXPENDED. HYDRO - ELECTRIC DEVELOPMENT. (Special to the “Star.”) WELLINGTON, September 29. New contracts for amounts totalling over £IOO,OOO have been let in connection with the duplication of the hydroelectric works at Lake Coleridge. The works include; Power house building, to Graham Brothers, at £13,750, turbines to Vickers, Ltd., at £11,762, generators to J. J. Niven (representing Bruce, Peebles), at £18,706, and pipe lines to Anderson’s, Ltd., at £37,468. Tenders are to lie called for a duplicate lino to Timaru and extensions to Oamani. The estimated cost is between £57,000 and £58.000. Fiftv-two-foot poles, sufficient for the work, have been ordered in Australia for delivery beginning two months from now.
