BRITISH TEAM ON BURNING TRAIN.
SAVED BY HURLING COAL AT THE DRIVER. KI.MBKR.LKV, August 11. Tom Yoyee, till: well-known Gloucester ami English international forward, has recently saved the. British Rugby team, now touring South Africa, by throwing coai at the driver of a burning train. It was a feature of an exciting few minutes on the twenty-eight hours 4 train journey from Cape- Town to Kimberley. Four members of the party, playing cards in one of the compartments, sud denly discovered that the carriage was on fire. Their own efforts to stamp the flames out were aided by other players, who hurried to the rescue, while Yoyee raced along the corridors to stop the train. His voice failed to attract the notice of the driver, so he climbed on to the tender and threw pieces of coal at him. Ibis had the desired effect, and the train pulled up. In the meantime the players’ haggage had been hauled out of the carriage. which was still burning, but once the train stopped the outbreak was soon put out with buckets of water from the engine.
