JOURNALIST DEAD.
MR FRANK DOOGAN. (Special to the '‘Star.**) GREYMOUTH, May 15. News has been received that Mr 'Frank Poogkn, the well-known jour ' nalist. eldest son of Air and Mrs H. F\ Doogan, Greymonth, has passed ’away, after a few days’ illness from : bronchial catarrh at the residence of 3bis aunt at Wellington, this morning. He was for some years on the editorial staff of the “Greymouth Star” and at the time of his death was on the staff of the “Truth.” He was 25 years of age. The body is being brought to Greymouth on Saturday for burial. Mr Doogan was well known as '.writer of verse, which he contributed ■under the nom de y plume of Frank /Dee. Mr Doogan, who was an ex-pupil of the Marist Brothers’ School, Greymouth, and St Patrick’s College, Wellington, was at school a fine athlete and a brilliant footballer. H»s achievements were not confined to the field of sport alone, fpr as a debater he was recognised as the best in Greymouth. winning the impromptu debate and set speech on two occasions at the Greymouth competitions, as a member of St Columba Club.
