CHEERS FOR THE DOCTOR.
* BY SI NBA D. Oh. cheers for Dr Thacker, now that he’s back again; for no more will I lack a fit subject for my pen. From U-S-A. and Blighty be lately has returned, and to us with delight- he relates the things he’s learned.. He has been greatly feted, he’s mixed with all the swells; he sojourned, it is stated, in seventy hotels; and now his tour is over, now that, with us he's back, this greatly travelled rover perceives the things we lack. “ I’m certain that this city,” says he. “is very slow ; the scenevv is pretty, but nothing seems to go. You simply aren’t progressive, and that ought to be cured \ for countless years successive you weeklv have endured the smoky, dirty tunnel that links you with the sea ; to see that something's done’ll now be a task for me. Canals are still my vision, a seaport is my aim : I think that T've a mission to make you think the same. I’m full of pep and vigour. I’m feeling fit and fine, and here the leading figure will soon again he mine. I’ve come hack j keen and snurty. as you no doubt can tell ; miles to the gallon, thirty —by Jove, I'm sparking well!”
