LATE MRS H. STEFFENS.
A very old resident of North Canterbury. Mrs H. Steffens, who came out with her husband in the early sixties passed away on January 7, at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr A. Scott, of East Oxford, after a short illness, in her eighty-third year. Airs Steffens, who was the widow of the late Air H. Steffens, who died two years ago, resided at Carle ton for about forty-six years. She was of a very pious and friendly disposition, always ready and willing to help where there was sick ness. She leaves a family of six sons and three daughters and thirty-live grandchildren, all of whom are living in the South Island.
