WEDDINGS.

CALDWELL—STAT E. The marriage of Miss Nellie M. (Betty) State, second daughter of Mrs L. State, Opavca, to Mr Robert Todd Caldwell, third son of Mrs E- J- Caldwell. St Albans, took place in St John’s Church. Latimer Square, recently. The Rev N. Wright was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her brother. Mr W. G. State, wore a becoming frock of satin beaute in an exquisite shade of mole, with falling side cascade, underlined with turquoise blue. A cavalier cape hung from the shoulders and was also lined with turquoise. The angel sleeves were of georgette. A smart cloche hat in mole georgette was lined with turquoise blue, and a feather mount fell over the brim. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations and maiden hair fern, with pink tulle and ribbon streamers. The bridesmaid, Miss Daisy Tabley. wore a frock of navy blue marocain. made on simple lines finished at the waist with a fan bow, and underlined in fawn georgette. Her small hat of navy taffetas was lined with georgette and she carried a. bouquet of amber carnations. The bridegroom -wa s attended bv Mr Ariiat Hughes, After (he ceremony a reception was held at Dixieland, only the immediate relatives being present. The bride’s mother received the guests and wore a smart black gaberdine coat frock, with silver trimmings and a becoming black hat. She carried a. posy of pipU rosebuds and fern. Mrs Caldwell, the bridegroom's mother, wore a frock of mauve velvet and satin, and a small black hat with a white feather mount Her bouquet was varicoloured carnations When Mr and Mrs Caldwell left for their wedding tour the bride wore a costume of nigger brown gaberdine smartlv braided, and a cherrycoloured hat. SIMPSON—RHODES. A wedding was solemnised at St Andrew’s Church recently, when Emily, only daughter of Mrs A. Rhodes, of Picton Avenue. Riccarton. was married to James William Simpson, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. W. Simpson, of Shakespeare Road. Waltham. The Rev Norman Webster officiated. The bride, was was given a wav by her uncle, Mr J. Harper, wore a smart tailored costume of fawn gaberdine, a pretty hat of fawn and blue georgette and fawn shoes and stockings to match She carried a bouquet of white carnations, sweet peas and Christmas lilies with white streamers. The bride was attended by Miss Louie Hayden, who wore a nigger brown costume, and a hat of nigger brown georgette with old gold ciro lace brim. Her bouquet was of pale pink sweet peas and fern with pink streamers. Mr William Harper carried out the duties of best man.

After the ceremony a reception was held at Dixieland. Mrs Rhodes, who received the guests, wore a smart tailored costume of grey, and grey and gold hat with touches of pink. The bridegroom’s mother wore a smart navy costume and new and silver hat. Amongst those present were:--Mr and Mrs J. W. Simpson. Mr and Mrs J. Harper, Mr and Mrs H. Turner. Mr and Mrs Fine. Mr A- Simpson. Misses M., L.. W. and E- Simpson, Mr Neilson. Misses M. and J. Harper. Mr and Mrs Creagh. Mrs Andrews Afterwards Mr and Mrs Simpson left by car for the north. MORRIS—WATCHMAN. A wedding was solemnised at the Church of The Good Shepherd. Phillipetewn. on Tuesday when Eleanor, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Watchman, of Wilson’s Rroad, Linwood. was married to Bond Moore, second son of Mr and Mrs Morris, Kilbirnie. Wellington. The Rev Dunnage officiated and Airs Hewlar.ds presided at the organ. The church was prettily decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away bv her father, wore a simple frock of ivory brocaded satin marocain and georgette, gracefully draped at the sides ami finished with rich silver and beaded ornaments. Her embroidered tulle veil was held in place by s wreath of orange blossom. A sheaf of gem lilies completed a charming toilette The bride was attended bv her sister. Miss Ann Watchman, who wore a dainty frock of heliotrope georgette trimmed with silver leaves, a heliotrope Dutch tulle cap. and carried a bouquet of choice flowers. Joan Watchman, sister of the bride, and Nola Edmonds, as flower girls, wore filmy frocks of creme net trimmed with heliotrope ribbon and bows of tulle. They also wore heliotrope Dutch tulle caps and carried posies. They scattered rose petals in front of the bride on leaving the church. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Fj. Smith, of Wellington. A reception was afterwards given by Mr and Airs Watchman in the Parish Hall. Airs Watchman wore i smart tailored costume of grey jacard cloth and a smart hat of silver and Mack. Miss Griffiths, aunt of the bride, wore a froek of Polynesian silk relieved with grey, and hat to match: Mrs Carpenter (Wanganui), a smart .frock of jade silk trimmed with bronze beads and fawn lace hat : Airs Edmonds, apricot silk jersey net frock, with hat to match: Mrs J. Martin, : smart navy satin marocain frock and navv hat. The proceedings terminated with a jolly little dance with several musical items. The happy couple left for the south by motor, the bride travelling in a French grey frock with smart navy coat and fox fur. Their future home is to be in Wellington.
