WEST COAST JUBILEE.
HOKITIKA CELEBRATIONS. Per Press Association. HOKITIKA, Januarv 11. The Westland goldfields jubilee celebrations were continued yesterday with a special picture entertainment in the afternoon and tea to the visitors. The West Coasters’ reunion in the Soldiers* Hall at night proved a great success. There was a large attendance of pioneers and the proceedings were very hearty. Many old-time songs and dances, with community singing, being successfully introduced. Throughout great enthusiasm was shown, and the evening was voted a delightful success. the visitors expressing great satisfaction at the opportunity to renew all acquaintances. Mrs Seddon was present. John Richie, a South Westland veteran. expressed the appreciation and gratification of the pioneers at the hospitality and courtesies extended. Further festivities continue to-dnv. The Minister of Mines visited Harihari yesterdav and returned last evening? to Hokitika and received a deputation. He afterwards attended the Exhibition and left for the north this morning.
