SHIPPING NOTES. The Canopns was docked at Lyttelton yesterday for her annual overhauling. Tho Storm was an arrival yesterday at, midday. She loaded for Wellington and Wanganui, and sailed for tho north last The Hauraki arrived at San Francisco on Saturday from Australia. Tho vessel will load at Pacific ports for Auckland, Melbourne. Adelaide and Gydney. The Breeze, from the south, is expected to-morrow to load for Wellington and Wanganui. The Calm is an expected arrival from Wellington to-morrow. She will load for Bluff. Dunedin and Timaru. Tho Holmdale, from Dunedin, via Oamaru and Timaru. is expected to-day. She will sail this evening for Wellington, Picton and Wanganui. The Komata loaded hero yesterday for Wellington and Auckland and sailed last evening. The Opihi called at Lyttelton yesterday morning from Timaru to load cargo for Wellington. New Plymouth and Nelson. The Kent is now expected back from Dunedin on Monday to load for the United Kingdom. Tbe New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Tnrakina was due from Wanganui late last night. She will berth this morning, and will sail for Wanganui on Monday. The Ruapehu is duo about the end of t'bf week to discharge. She proceeds from this port, to Wellington, and is timed to leave New Zealand on January 2-4 for London, via Panama. The death is announced, after a short lbneps. of Captain Gordon Hopkins. For many years Captain Hopkins was chief officer and master of some of the Union Company s coastal vessels, his last charge being the Karori. A few years ago he resigned from the company’s service and went to Sydney. Just prior to his death he was chief officer of the Cooma.
