FLOODS IN WESTLAND
* BRIDGE WASHED AWAY. HOKITIKA, January 11. An extremely heavy flood has occurred throughout the Westland county aa the result of heavy rain last night. Much flood damage is reported. The Kakapotahi bridge near tho junction of the Kakapotahi with the Waitaha River was washed away, except for three spans. Tt is the highest flood on record in that district.
