SWIMMING.
LEITHFIELD CLUB. There was a large attendance at the meeting: of the Leithfleld Swimming Club on Wednesday evening:. Mr F. Ashby presided. Mi* J. M'Lean, with Mr Ellis as seconder, gave notice of motion that at the next meeting he would move that the baths be open for mixed bathine on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. During the evening Mi- Ashby tendered his resignation, but was asked to reconsider his decision. Immediatelj* after the closo of the public meeting the management committee met. On the motion of Mr D. W. Palmer, seconded by Mr 11. May, Mr J. Fitzpatrick, captain of the club, was appointed delegate to the Amateur Swimming AssooiaMr H. May moved and Mr D. W. Palmer seconded that the following should be inserted in the rules—“ That the club accepts no liability for accidents.’’ Carried. Mr F. Ashby, seconded by Mr J. H'Lean, moved that a diving stand, on the line 3 suggested by Mr O’Malley, be erected. The foregoing motion was withdrawn in favour of that by Mr D. W. Palmer, who moved—“ That as the bath committee does not see its way to incur further liabilities at present, tho money subscribed in the public meeting (255) be handed to Mr O’Malley, and that he be asked to collect sufficient funds for the stand.” This was seconded by Mr M'Lee,n and carried. Mr .T. Fitzpatrick moved that Messrs Ward-Browne, Hadley and Dr Thompson be added to the committee. This was seconded by Mr F. May and carried. On the motion of Mr Fitzpatrick, seconded by Mr F. May, votes of thanks were passed 1o those who had laboured to procure water: to the secretary. Mr J. W. Sarich, for his untiring efforts; and to the newspaper correspondent for the accurate reports of the meetings.
