Mr Jack Jones, M.P., played a lively part in to-day’s formal proceedings of Parliament. He was heard protesting in the House of Lords against the meagre attendance of Peers when a Commission consisting of five Peers formally signified th° King's approbation of Mr Whitley’s election to the Speakership. ” Fancy the Commons being treated with contempt by this crowd,” exclaimed Mr Jones. Subsequently lie attempted to discuss tire matter in the House of Commons, but the Speaker prevented him. Mr Jones then watched members of the front benches take the oatli of allegiance. He shouted to the Government Junior Whip, amid Conservative protests and Labour laughter, “ You will be on the unemployment dole next week, governor.”
