The ** Mail ” predicts that the King’B Speech at the opening of Parliament will reiterate the Government’s belief that the protection of Home industries will cure unemployment. It will deal at length with the Government’s intention to ratify the conclusions of the Imperial and Economic Conferences, and will also emphasise that the Singapore dock is essential to Empire defence. The Admiralty’s view* is that no future Government which conducts an inquiry will cancel Lhe Singapore project.
