MILITARY PAGEANT.
to thj: kditob. Sir.—l note that we are .to have a military pageant in Christchurch early in the'New Year, the the Show Grounds, and the date ' February 9. This is an event which sboujd attract a great crowd, as it will appeal tp all sections of the community. I do not know if the date is definitely fixed, without of alteration-. So that the promoters may not be left till too late, in ignorance of the strong opposition they will encounter in the date chosen. I would draw their attention to the fact that on that day, on the neighbouring ground at Addington. the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s summer meeting will be in progress. Everyone ip Christchurch must realise that a trotting meeting represents a strong counterattraction. Just to complete my hint to the promoters, the Canterburv Jockey Club’s summer meeting will be held on the following Saturday,. February 16.—1 am, etc., SPORT. Christchurch. December 11:
