The Mount Moore Gold Mining Company Limited TO BE REGISTERED UNDER “ THE COMPANIES ACT, 1908.” Capital - - £30,000 Divided into 120,000 Shares of 5/- each of which 40,000 are offered to the public upon the following terms _ Two Shillings and Sixpence upon application; Two Shillings and Sixpence upon allotment. PROVISIONAL DIRECTORS; ALFRED KELTNGE ENGLAND, Esq., of Christchurch, Timber Merchant. WM. FRANCIS McARTHUR, Esq., of Christchurch, Chemist. GEO. IV. ,T. PARSONS, Esq., of Christchurch, Monumental Mason. GEORGE DUNCAN MACFARLANE, Esq., of Christchurch, Auctioneer. JOHN GRANT MACKIE, Esq., of Christchurch, Motor Garage Proprietor. BANKERS: THE BANK OF NEW ZEALAND. Tiie Company is being formed to take over from the vendors:— (1) The Special Quartz Claim Number 4282 on the register of the Isasehv Mining District situate at Stoneburn in the Dunhack Survey District, and known as The Mount Moore Special Quartz Claim containing 19 acres. (2) The option of purchase of the whole of the Deep Dell Five Stamp Battery and treatment plant now being upon the area held by Deep Dell Company in liquidation. The property has been prospected' and developed to a considerable extent—(l) Near the northern boundary a tunnel has been driven in from just above the creek level at a distance of over 500 feet and timbered where necessary, and other workings carried out enabling the reef to be proved. (2) About 1 chain to the south of the tunnel a reef of a width of about 3ft. Sins, has been opened to a depth of about 20 feet, and three samples taken from this reef assayed 1 oz. 6 dwt. 3 grs., 3 oz. 2 grs., 3 oz. 6 dwt. 15 grs. to the ton respectively, or an average assay of 2 oz. 10 dwt. 23 ;grs., equal to £lO/3/10 per ton ore. (3) A short tunnel about 150 feet has been driven, about 3 chains further south, and at the further end a chamber of 20 feet square by 10 feet high opened; from this a rise to the surface about 10 feet has been made to the foot wall of the reef at the outcrop. An. assay taken from this ' reef showed 1 oz. 2 dwt. 20 grs. to the ton, equal to £4/10/- per ten ore. (4) About 10 chains further south there is an open cut where a reef has been opened as a quarry, and two samples taken from the reef and rubble assayed 9 dwt. 3 grs., and 13 dwt. 1 gr. respectively, or an average of 11 dwt. 2 grs. for this place, equal to £2/5/- per ton ore. The total workings by way of proof and development must have cost at least £3OOO. "the long tunnel was proved by taking samples from the same : (1) One sample from a point about 50 feet in from the face and one about 100 feet further in; (2) Two samples in the stopes off the 60 feet side drive; (3) One in the extended drive at 450 feet in; and (4) Three from the operations at the end of the long tunnel. These last operations disclose an excavation In the reef about $6 feet long, 18 feet wide, and the reef was 5 feet thick. The samples were taken one each from the north and south faces of the cut, and one from the body of the reef at about the centre of the excavation. These returns show an average value of the whole reef of 9 dwt, 20 grs., equal to £2/0/4 ner ton ore. It is considered that this proves the value of this reef. Wherever tested, no sample of stone lias failed to Teveal gold, and the 15 assay samples (7 taken from all along the face qf the hill, and 8 from the tunnel, testing*tlie reef for 500 feet in) show an average yield of the ore to be 18 dw'ts. 1/ grs. to the ton, equal at present prices to £3/16/3 a ton in value . Reports from Two Practical Miners . MR. DAVID McCONNELL, of Mcßae’s Flat, a miner of over 30 years' experience states:— “I am intimately acquainted with the Mount Moore property (late Golden Bar), and have no hesitation in stating that this is undoubtedly the finest mining proposition I have seen in Central Otago. The enormous bodies of ore to be seen upon the surface and in the 500 feet tunnel carry gold in highly payable There are Seven distinct reefs on this property, varying in thickness from 4ft. to 40ft. ' The property has been tested and proved by a tunnel driven near the northern boundary (approximately 500 feet! just above the creek' level, 400 feet of which is driven through a continuous body of gold-bearing ore: all of the stone from this drive was crushed in 1902-7 by the battery then upon the place under the Golden Bar Syndicate, and yielded highly payable results.” ■ MR. WILLIAM ANDREW SHAW, late of Reefton, but now of Christchurch, a miner of 30 years’ experience, states:— " I have worked upon this mine ■from July, 1923. having been engaged to clear a fall and re-timber parts i of a long tunnel upon t.he property. “ This tunnel (500 feet about) is driven in near the northern boundary of the property ami just above the creek level about 200 feet below the crest of the hill which rises at an angle of about 60 degrees, and the fall of the earth referred to was about 500 feet in from the mouth. “ This tunnel is driven through 350 to 400 feet of apparently continuous quartz, and at the end of the tunnel the reef commences to turn over and dip, and in my opinion will ultimately become almost vertical, or at least continue to go down at a sharp angle. “ The tunnel has been driven apparently following a line of gold ore, and not with any definite idea of developing the mine, and the lootings along its length on the right-hand or southern side show that the operators were testing it for gold leads, and in various places had left the tunnel to follow some such indications. “ At one place (about 200 feet in from the mouth) a drive has been put in and at 12 feet has turned east parallel to the tunnel and extended about 150 feet, and off this drive a pass and a couple of stopes have, been taken up, opening a chamber into a reef formation 15 feet high arid about 30 feet by 12 feet floor space. (1 was present when a sample was taken from here for assay, and which was proved at 19 dwts. 14 grsto the ton.) ” In a Report upon this mine, dated November 4th, 1923, PROFESSOR D. B. WATERS (Otago School of Mines), M.1.M.M., says:— “• I have to state that if the property is handled along the lines I suggest, then I can recommend it as quite a sound mining venture. The money spent in the work I have outlined would he represented by plant, by development, by working places, and by ore won, so that all would be of value. In addition to the work mentioned, the sum stated would permit of driving for xoznu distance on the reef at a lower levem’ The original reports are open to the inspection of prospective applications for shares, and may be seen at the office of the Secretary. , Application for Shares may be made to C.
