Judgment for th© jfiaintiff for the full amount claimed with costs was given by Mr H. Y. M'iddowson, S.M., thus morning in the case between Chan Chew Chong (commonly known as George Chew Lee), fruiterer, and Low Gum. of Chew Lee and Co.. Cashel Street. Christchurch, fruiterer. Th© plaintiff claimed from defendant the sum of £l6B. being the balance due to him for money lent to tho defendant. Not a few New Zealanders have the idea that this is really the best little corner o? the earth; and it is very gratifying to have this opinion confirmed by so experienced and extensive a traveller as Mr J. M. Hickson. Mr Hickson is conducting one of his healing missions in Dunedin just now, and and in his address ’on Wednesday morning, states the “ Otago DailyTimes,” he expressed his view of the blessings New Zealand enjoys in no uncertain terms. “In passing round the world,” he said, “ seeing what I have seen in other countries, I can say this to you, that you do not know how much you have to thank God for in New Zealand in the wonderful blessings He has given you. .1 have yet to find a better place in the world to live in than New Zealand. Your wonderfully beautiful country, all your surroundings, what more could you have than you do have ' God has placed you really in paradise. It is full of beauty. Well, do not spoil it. Let it be full of love, full of the love of Jesus Christ. Lift your country to a high spiritual level, so that it shall be not only physically beautiful, but that there shall be a light shining from this land which shall go forth round the world and bring joy and blessing to men.
