Mr and Mrs W. O. Campbell have returned to their home in Fendalton. Captain and Mrs Scott have returned from a holidny spent at Hanmer. Mrs Fenwick is the guest of Mrs Walter Clifford, Fendalton. Mrs J. C. See lye, Dunedin, left today for the south. Mr and Mr Guy Ring leave to-night foi their home in Hinuera. Mr and Mrs R. A. Wilson. Bulls, are visiting Mrs Cracroft Wilson, Cashmere Hills. Lady Fenwick, Dunedin, and Mrs Pereira 1 .lames, Auckland, went south yesterday. Mrs H. E. Button will leave to-day for Dunedin, where she will be the guest of Mr and Mrs R. Hudson. Mrs Stocker, North Canterbury, is a visitor to town and ia among the guests at Warwick House. Miss Joan Fulton is leaving; Christchurch early next week to spend a holiday in North Canteibury. Mrs Copeland, Tasmania, is the guest of her sister, Mrs W. Thomas, the Rectory, Timaru. Mr and. Mrs E. G. Kerr returned to Timaru yesterday after a few days in Christchurch. "Mrs Frank Graham, jun.. who was with Mrs E J. Le C-ren, Maori Hill, returned to Christchurch yesterday. Mr and Mrs Telford, who were with Mr J. H. Don, Timaru, hare returned south. Miss J. SimpsPn arrived in Timaru yesterday, after an extended tour of Australia. Miss Jean Hay went back to Christchurch yesterday from a short visit spent with Mrs H. Hay, Timaru. Miss Dibbs, Sydney, who was the guest of her sister, Mrs \V. T. Ritchie. Timaru. is with Mrs J. M. Ritchie, Balvraid, Dunedin. Mrs H. Hall, Wellington, is spending several days in Christchurch and is among the guests at the United Seivice Hotel.

Mr and Mrs C. H. Holmes, Opawa, are leaving next week for the north, where they will spend Christmas and

New Year. Mrs Guy Ronalds and Miss Rita Cracroft Wilson, who are spending a holiday in Sydney, are expected in Christchurch on December 16. Mrs H. E. Townley. New York, U.S.A., arrived from the north this morning and is a guest at the United Service Hotel. Guests at "Warner’s include Mr and Mrs O. Mac Lean (GreymoUth), Mrs and Mias de Beer (Dunedin), and Mrs T. T. Thom peon (Amberley). Mr, Mrs and Mies Sharp, Omatsu, who have been spending three weeks at Hanmer, returned to Timaru cm Wednesday. Mrs A. A. Scott and Miss Maud Wilson came back to Timaru from Dunedin this week.

Nurse Maude has received a cheque ' for £22 17s Bd, being the proceeds of a dance recital given by the pupils of Miss Cox and Miss Myers. The amount is for the funds of the Christ- , church District Nursing Association, i Mrs J. R. Brunt, lady president of the L inwood branch of the Bntlsn and Foreign Bible Society, has received from the Rev A. T. Thompson, New Zealand secretary of the society, a letter expressing his waimest thanks for the splendid help and co-operation of the members of the Linwood branch. Mr Thompson mentions that the RevDr Ritson in expected in New Zealand in April. The workers of Phillipstown Parish Church have been busy for some weeks in preparation for the annual fete to be held in the grounds of the Maori College, Ferry Road, this afternoon and evening and to-morrow. The j Mayor of Christchurch has consented to open the fair this afternoon at three o’clock. The proceeds will be in aid of the parish funds.

A gala will be hold at the playground, Queen Street, Sydenham, tomorrow, in aid of the new building for the Sydenham Free Kindergarten. Mr H. T. Armstrong will make the official opening at 2 p.m. Besides many other attractions there will bo an exhibition of boxing and jujitsu and a cooking competition. The Caledonian Ripe Band will supply music during the afternoon and preparations are well in hand to give satisfaction to the large number of visitors who are expected. An enjoyable party was given by Mr and Mrs Terry at tlieir residence, 401, Cashel Street, to celebrate the fifth birthday of their son Frank. The hours passed pleasantly in games, music and dancing. The music and supper rooms were tastefully decorated with orange, lemon and blue streamers. Among the adults presents were Mr and Mrs Terry, Mr and Mrs G. Cullen, Mr and Mrs Paterson, Mesdames Moore, Warburton, Grant, and Skidmore. The children were Frank and Betty Terry, Ray, Joyce and George Cullen, Eileen Moore. Leicester Warburton, lan Grant, James and Billie Paterson, and Arthur, Henry and Evelyn Skidmore.
