SYDNEY DOPING CASE.
♦ VERDICT OF GUILTY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Calble Association. (Received November S, 12.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 8. The jury found both of tho Jones brothers guilty, but recommended Charles to mercy on account of liis previous good character, if James Jones was sentenced to eighteen months’ hard labour, and Charles to nine months, but his sentence was suspended and ho was bound over in one surety of £4O. The Judge remarked that he recognised that Charles Jones*was influenced by James. James Thomas Jones and Charles Edward Jones were charged with conspiracy to defraud one Gaptain War- ! ren. master mariner, and the mortj gagee and solicitors of a station property. of large sums of money. Evidence was given by Captain ’Warren and others, at the time of the committ-D of the accused, that Warren was kept in confinement for a. considerable time, in a state of “dope.” while his property was being gradually taken from him.'
