LINESMAN’S DEATH.

DECEASED BLAMES COUNCIL. An inquest concerning the death of F rederick George Manhire, a City Council employee, who died on Sunday as the result of an electric shock, was opened by Mr Wyvern Wilson, Coroner, this afternoon. Evidence of identification was given by a brother of the deceased, Charlie Manhire, who said he spoke to the deceased in the Hospital. Deceased said to him: “I have got my lot. It was the council’s fault. The juice was all supposed to be switched off.” He told witness that lie had just started to clean a switchboard when be received a shock. Deceased said the doors were left unlocked for the men to go in and clean the switchboards. To Mr White (who appeared for the widow) : All deceased told witness was that the- power was supposed to be off. At this stage the inquest was adjourned till Thursday next.
