GRAND THEATRE.

“THE OLD NEST,” AND “PAY DAY.” A film full of interest ami action, is *' The Old Nest,” a Rupert Hughe.-, story, now showing at the Grand. It deals with a family of six children, all their escapades and fun. their ambitions and hopes, their adventures and destinies. They are to he seen first at home, ‘‘ the old nest,” and later, out in the world, facing life for themselves. The eldest son is killed in a railroad track. Another son, the ne’er-do-well grows up to be the typical small town “ sport.” who gets into difficulties, and is disowned by the father. The eldest daughter marries and goes to New York, and brother Frank is Been in Paris, amongst the gay students of art. Emily, the baby, proanises ifever to leave her mother, but suddenly elopes and goes abroad with her young husband. A dozen good ■ tories are made into one, und that one is ‘‘The Old Nest.” There is only one complaint to make about “ Pay Day,” and that is, that its two reels should have been ten. However, there is only one Chaplin, and anyone doubting this need only see *‘Pay Day.”’ Even a sphinx would break into a coy giggle if it could see Charles hanging on to a. long chain of sausages, nonchalantly reading his evening Gazette, under the impression that he is swinging along on a crowded street car. Supports include a comedv and a news film.
