NECESSARY IN THE COAL ! INDUSTRY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z Cable Association. (Received October 26, 32.0 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 26. The president of the Newcastle Technical College, in pleading for scientific research work, says that its need in the coal industry is costing the Commonwealth a million annually. Owing to unscientific production only 50 per cent of the coal is being won from the Great Northern seams borehole at Greta, which represents a dead loss of thousands of millions.
