TIIO Governor of Bombay inaugurated the greatest irrigation scheme in the world when he laid the foundation stone of tho Lloyd Barrage at Sukkur. The huge darn will regulate the flow of the Indus and distribute its waters through seven great canals and thousands of miles of tributaries over an area of eight million acres, now chiefly desert. lhe project was designed and will be carried out by engineers of the Public W orks Department of the Government of Bombay. The latter will also meet the whole cost of the project which is estimated at £16.000,000.
