EFFECT ON EXCHANGE.
NEW YORK. October 22. On Monday morning the markets reacted very appreciably to the news of the German Separatist movement in the Ruhr and Bavaria. Foreign exchange felt a very sharp effect. Sterling dropped to 449 cents, which is the lowest quotation since November 1922. Francs and lire also dropped half a cent, to 51 and cents respectively. Marks reached 44 billion to the dollar. Industrial and commercial stocks generally were lower.
