BAVARIA’S OPEN REBELLION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Cop?’*! -fit Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. BERLIN, October 22. The latest telegrams from Bavaria are very serious. They say that Herr von Kahr is determined to insist on the resignation of the entire Stresemann Cabinet, and, if a peaceful settlement is impossible, he is ready to force the decision. The Berlin Press unanimously agree that Bavaria is in open rebellion. They point out that Bavaria lias its own army, which is ready to obey Ilerr von Kahr and General Lossow. Bavaria insists that she does not want separation from the Reich, but the restoration of the German Federation on Bismarclcian lines, as that is the only way Germany can find the way back to power. The Stresemann Cabinet has decided to attempt mediation through the Federal Council. BAVARIA EXPLAINS. LONDON. October 20. Despite grave difficulties both the Reich and Bavarian Governments claim tliat they are actuated by the same desire. namely the strengthening of the German nation. Simultaneously they accuse the other side of disruptive influences. At Munich Herr von Kahr made a statement to pressmen. He insisted that Bavaria had rejected all idea of Separatism. Jt-s action was directed partly against the policy of the Reich Government, but not against the Reich. The Premier declared that the Bavarian attitude was dictated by opposition to internationalism and Marxism. DIVISION WARNED. Pouter's Telegrams. BERLIN, October 21. The Imperial Government, in a manifesto, describes the Bavarian claim as wilful misrepresentation. Seekt, in an order to the Reichwehr, warns the Seventh Bavarian Division to remain loyal to its oath to the Reich and unconditionally obey the highest military commander.
