CABLES TO AUSTRALIA.

A deputation from the Sydney Chamber of Commerce asked the PostmasterGeneral to secure a reduction in the oversea cable rate. Mr Gibson replied that be was lookino* into the matter. He promised to make investigations regarding the request. that cable messages from New Zealand should be received and delivered by the cable companies concerned, instead of through the Post Office as at present.
