FATAL COLLISION.

SHAFT OF GIG STRIKES CAR PASSENGER. Miss Julia Carboy, a member of a \ well-known Loburn family, died at . the Brooklehurst Hospital. Rangiora, j at 4 p.m. yesterday, from injuries re- j neivecl on Saturday evening in a collision between a ’motor-car and a j horse and gig. She was seen at about 1.30 p.m. on Sunday bv Dr Adand in consultation with himself and Ur King, and they found no justification for an operation. She would at. any time have Keen a bad subject tor an operation. At the time she 'ap,reared to have gained a good deal of ground. although still in a very serious condition. About 8.45 p.m. lie received an urgent call to go to her, and found when he arrived at the hospital that- . she was dead. Hr King, in the pro- - sellce of himself ar.d Dr Allen, made a ' post-mortem examination and found « extensive internal injuries. These in j juries might have been caused by the l violent impact of a blunt- object such as c the shaft of a gig. The cause of death was haemorrhage and shock, and no i operative procedure could have saved 1 life. f John Carboy, farmer. Loburn, stated c that Miss Carboy was his sister.
