M GARTEN’S THIRD WIN IN SUCCESSION. By Telegraph—Pros? Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received October 1, 11.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, September 30. The “Daily Telegraph” says:— “ Ballymena appeared beaten at the home turn, where Tarleton, The Monk and Dady Valais passed him. but he came again and under pressure shot out nearing tho post, and won by half a length. It was a case of being the least tired of the field, but the New Zealander displayed remarkable determination in the run down the straight. The “ Herald ” says : —“ Ballymena stuck gamely to Jving Carnival, and though the latter was hard ridden the New Zealander passed him at the distance and despite a great run by Shrapnel, he finished resolutely. M ; Carteti has won three Derbies in succession. He says he got a good start on the outside and was always running in t handy position. The horse s condition stood to him, and he finished full of running.”
