NEED FOR DIVINE ASSISTANCE.
CARDINAL BOURNE’S SERMON. Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received October 1, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, September 30. Cardinal Bourne, preaching in London to-day, said: “We ought- to be filled with compassion for those who have to lead the world at the present time. The statesmen of Britain have every need of Divine assistance at the Imperial Conference. An issue without precedent in human history must be faced. That is, how to unite in one great commonwealth under a single constitutional monarch, a number of autonomous self-governing nations. It is quite impossible to exaggerate the importance of the issues at stake.”
