Apologies for abseuce were sent by Messrs H. M’lntosh and (’. H. AViuney. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The financial statement allowed a. credit ha lance of Ji9 4s. A feature of the report was the amount of the outstanding subscription for the past year, which were shown to he 20. A letter from, the Defence Depar nient giving dates of future artillery practice on the Estuary was read. It was unanimously decided that the club protest against this dangerous practice when the hills could be'used as a background for targets. With reference to the new tram bridge a letter is to be sent to the various interested bodies, pointing out the necessity of keeping the bridge at its present level. Jf this structure is lowered tb© upper reaches of the. river will be isolated as far as launches are concerned. Several uncomplimentary remarks were parsed about the bridge erected at Jiurwo'id recently. Sir P. 1). Muirson (deputy-mayor) presented the trophies and cash prizes won during the past season. The principal wereßowlands Trophy, Mr M’Lean: Challenge Oup, Mr 11. H. Hawker; Captain Owles Shield. Mr Ij. ,A. Curtis. The. Engineers’ Cup. the race for which could not he held during the season, was handed to the previous winner (Mr W. 31. M. Downer) till the race is again contested. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Eord Jelliooe; president, Captain A. W. Owles: vice-presidents, Messrs S. Harrington, R. A. Curtis, T. Ryde3, C. TI. Winuyi and A. Munns: commodore. W. H. If. Downer; captain, Mr G. F. Howard: honorary secretary and treasurer. Mr W. R. Lilley; assistant secretary, Mr A. Fuller auditor, MrT. Jovnt; committee. - Messrs Curtis, M’Lean. Robinson. Mullins and Hawker; handicapperß, Messrs Curtis. Howard and Lilley; starter* Mr L. Cooper. Mr Mullins donated £5 as prize money for a long race, say, from the club s shed to Eock and hack, or any other course which is practicable.
