DRY AMERICA.
(By
SINBAD.)
Prohibition in the States is the merest farce, they say; every man his thirst abates in his own selected way. Men of an inventive mind are addicted to home brew; in their houses } r ou will find neat devices quite a few that will make the juicy grape hurriedly sit tip and think; but the word is flowers and crape if the. product you should drink. Some, more lazy in their way, on the bootleg store and their dollars every dav on its fiery contents spend. This may be a harmless plan for the chap with concrete throat; but for any other man there is waiting Charon’s boat. All the favourites of Fate were prepared for such a drought; underground in cellars great, there is not the slightest doubt, they had stocks of priceless wine; whisky, too, they’d stored away, ready for an orgy fine, lasting till *their dying day. With the liquor that we see drunk in U.S.A., its queer that in that great land so free one can’t get a drink of beer.
