THE BLOCKED RAILWAY LINES.
DEVASTATION IN MARLBOROUGH. Extensive damage "has been done to the railways in the Cheviot district, where the Waiau bridge has been badly shattered and on the Arthur’s Pass line beyond Springfield. The Kaiapoi Borough Council is promoting a relief fund for the benefit of sufferers in the borough. Marlborough suffered severely from the flood. There is widespread devastation and two lives have been lost.
