BLOCKAGE AT SPYE.
RAILWAY AUTHORITIES BLAMED. (Special to the “ Star.”) MOTUNAU, May 11. The roads are still in very bad order between Motunau and Christchurch. At Spye. where the bridge over the creek was entirely washed away, the mail cars scot through yesterday t>y using the railway line. This morning the ganger received in struct ions from Christchurch to bloc's traffic on the railway line, and the tele graph and mail cars would have been unable to get through if it had not been for the settlers, who worked strenuously. making a temporary bridge. There is great indication in the district at the action of the Railway Department. which is described as a glaring example of red tape and stupidity.
