BLUE HERONS A pair of blue herons have been seen by residents of Charteris Bay and Purau roaming around the district. These birds are fully protected by law. ' i A FINE CHRYSANTHEMUM. “ It is the largest chrysanthemum for cutdoor-grown bloom that- l have ever seen, and it is very perfect.” were Mr E. Nairn’s remarks after awarding the prize for the premier bloom at the Lyttelton Methodist Church Chrysanthemum Show. The bloom, a Louisa Pocket, was grown by the Rev S. Bailey. It measured eighteen inches across. LYTTELTON CLUB. Several members of the Pioneer Sports Club paid a visit on Wednesday* evening to the Lyttelton Club, where they were entertained by club members. A billiards match was played between J. Martin - and C. E. Brown. The former Avon after a good game. Mr Minson, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the Lyttelton Chib members for the pleasant evening. Mr T. Wales, president of the club, suitably responded.
