GRAND THEATRE.

An adaptation of Sir Hall Caine’s stirring story “ The Christian ” is being shown at the Grand Theatre. The adaptation has a particular value, sentimentally and otherwise, on account of the fact that the author’s son. Derwent Hall Caine, in it takes the part of John Stonn, and takes it with remarkable ability as an actor, and with a full appreciation of the character his father's genius created. The photography, as well as the acting, is first-class, every detail, evidently, having been given studied attention. It is. on the whole, one of the most successful adaptations of popular novels shown in Christchurch. In the second part of the programme “ Dinty ” provides a laugh or a thrili at every turn. In this success of Marshall Xeilan. young Wesley Barry, better known as “Freckles,” makes a highly romantic and pict-ur-citv. In addition to these two big features, there is a genuinely humorous Mack Sennett comedy, “ Pa and Ma.” The programme will be repeated today and to-night.
