Twenty thousand spectators witnessed the Carpentier-Nilles fight. NsU.es weighed 123 t Gib and Carpentier list 91b. The fighting was even till the end of the fifth round, when Carpentier began to show some of his old form. In the sixth round he floored Nilles for nine seconds, and in the eighth round a splendidly-timed right to the jaw put Nilles out. Th© winner was accorded a great ovation.
