EFFECT OF COURT RULING. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. WASHINGTON, May 3. Following a conference with his offi cials, Mr A. W. Mellon. Secretary of the Treasury, has issued a statement fixing June 10 as the date after which no vessels, foreign or domestic, will be permitted to bring beverage liquor within American territorial waters, al though medicinal liquors will not be molested. Mr Mellon admitted that such an enforcement would be a delicate matter, saying : “ A regulation under the decision of the Supreme Court, upholding the Daugherty ruling, affecting as it does the rights of Governments under international treaties as well as the rights of our citizens, will require extraordinary care.”
