TRADES DISPUTE BILL.
CAUSE OF UNEMPLOYMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received May 3, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, May 2. Colonel Hurst (Conservative), introducing a Biil in the House of Commons for the repeal of the Trades Disputes Act, 1908. said that the Act had caused not only a great amount of unemployment. but an incalculable amount of human misery. The clause which sanctioned picketing was only a cloak for intimidation and violence. Mr J. H. Thomas (Labour) said that the Act was responsible for the creation of the Labour Party. If the other side wanted to hasten the day when Labour should go over to the Treasury Benches, Colonel Hurst should persuade the Government to giv© everv facility for the passage of the repeal of the Bill.
