CONCERT HALL POLL.
LAXITY OF CLERKS. Evidence of the unsatisfactory manner in which the loan poll on the Municipal Concert Hall proposal was conducted, was afforded this morning by Mr A. Macpherson. Mr Macpherson was one of those ratepayers who were not handed loan poll papers, but who •insisted on their rights. “ I went to the polling place at the corner of Flockton and Warrington Streets,” said Mr Maopherson, “ about 6 o'clock. I did not know what number of papers I was to receive. Lam a rate paper. When my name was called out. 1 received four papers. In passing out of the booth I noticed that there was another paper, a white one, and this was for the concert hall proopsal. I pointed out that I had not received this white paper. A clerk said: “I remember. We did not give it to you. Then they gave mo tho paper and I went hack and voted.” Mr Maopherson added that he complained at this irregular manner of conducting the election. He knew from personal knowledge that, his was not the only ease of the kind.
