SOCCER CONTROVERSY.
QUESTION OF SELECTION. CPeti Press Association.) DUNEDIN, May 1. At a meeting of the executive of the Otago football Association, it was decided to proceed with the protest against the appointment of a sole selector for the New Zealand team for Australia. In reference to Mr C. E. Ford ham’s statement: <• That the Otago Association had writeen ill ignorance of the subject, for "Mr R. I. Salmond (selector! had a letter from the association’s selector giving the names of players available from the Otago district ” the chairman stated that Mr Salmond had written to an individual instead of to the association. Had his letter been sent to the association, it would have been referred to the selector. It was regrettable that Mr Fordham should have said what he did. His remarks indicated a cleavage between the Otago Association and the selectors, which was not existent.
