TO-MORROW’S POLL
OAMARU PREPARED TO VOTE. CLOSE CONTEST LIKELY. (Per Press Association.) OAMARU, April 30. The final election meetings will he held to-night. Mr Massey and Mr Lee will speak at the Opera House and Mr Macpherson at the Drill Hall. Mr Wilford will preside at Mr Macphersou’s meeting, and will explain why the Liberal-Labour Party has not interposed in the contest. The general belief is that the result of to-morrow’s poll will he close. DISPLAYING THE RETURNS AT “STAR” OFFICE. Progress returns and the final result of the Oamaru by-election will be displayed at the “ Star” office in Gloucester Street to-morrow evening. Considerable interest is being taken in the contest, and arrangements have been made to display the figures so that they may be easily read by a large crowd. By arrangement with the “ Lyttelton Times” and “ Star” the returns will be shown on the screens at the picture shows in the city. MR WILFORD’S MOVEMENTS (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, April 30. Mr T. M. Wilford left for Oamaru this morning. He will stay there until after the election to-morrow.
